The Brief

I watched Ang Lee’s “LUST,CAUTION” last Saturday, i was wearing pyjama at that time, with matching coffee and the dried mangoes I bought in Divisoria. Before that, I was having a fun time watching “Knocked Up”.

LC is a good movie. It’s a stupid tale of stupid assasin(s) doing a trap and being trapped. What a short way to summarize the entire screenplay. But no kidding, I fell in love with the movie. Like Jessica Zafra on her take to “The Virgin Suicides”, I have an hour-long incantation of the movie title in a hush, ancient-like tone. Lllluuussst…..Cautioonnnn,,,,,

The tension. The intensity. The cautious lust. Damnness. As if falling in love could ever coincide with falling in trap. How can I love and kill at the same time? What would happen if I have the emotional range of a needle? Ang Lee, I can hardly imagine you did “Hulk”.

Of course. I watched One More Chance.  Need no review for this. Hate to say it, but I am starting to be impressed by Filipino commercial films.
